GOAT Road Trip - Meet Our Community

When the COVID-19 pandemic began in 2020, Kevin and the team at Euroventure wanted to find a way to offer their customers a different approach to travel in the new normal. With a surge in staycations, the idea for the campervan hire company GOAT Roadtrip was born, offering budding adventurers a fun and unique way to discover the Yorkshire Dales, Scotland and beyond!

Between running two businesses and greeting customers before they hit the road, Kevin told us all about his business’s success story. If you want a rental with a twist, you can find Austin the Jeep on our website!

What made you want to start your own campervan business?

When the pandemic hit, we immediately started brainstorming what the new normal might look like and how we at Euroventure could keep providing holidays to our customers. Rather than bury our heads in the sand, we took a coronavirus loan and set up GOAT Roadtrip in a matter of weeks. Now we can offer a fantastic new alternative which ticks all the boxes for a safe summer trip around the UK.

How has your business grown since it started and what have you got planned for the future?

I had never even stepped foot in a campervan let alone owned a fleet of them. But within 3 weeks of the idea, we had bought 5 of them and, just 9 months later, we now own 27 vehicles.

Although the product is very different to the European train holidays we usually do, our philosophy is the same, which is to offer an excellent product with outstanding customer service. We used to always be the underdog of European tour operators but now we are leading the way in the campervan industry. We believe we are the biggest campervan rental company in the North of England, so it is really exciting times for us.

Where is your business based?

We’re based in Leeds, in Yorkshire, just a couple of miles outside the city centre making us really accessible and easy to get to. There’s a great array of amenities, restaurants, and supermarkets nearby too for our customers to entertain themselves, rather than hanging about should they arrive earlier than planned. We also offer free customer parking in our CCTV monitored and secure premises.

What type of customers do you attract at GOAT Roadtrip?

Over the past 12 months, we’ve had a mix of couples and families hiring out our VW campers. Now we’ve expanded our fleet and have Jeeps and Motorhomes available, we’re hoping to cater more specifically for our customer’s needs, and attract a wider range of people who want to give camper rental a go. The Jeep & TentBox is a completely unique product perfect for adventurous couples, whilst our motorhomes are great for families as they can sleep up to six people.

What do customers love most about your campervans?

We wanted to make sure we kept the exceptional level of customer service at GOAT Roadtrip that makes Euroventure so successful and, despite our growth over the past few months, I think our customers still get a really personal and fantastic experience with us. So far, most of our vans have been used for short getaways to the Lake District or Yorkshire Dales, or popular road trips like the North Coast 500. However, this year we’ve had a lot of enquiries about CarFest so we expect a fair few of our vans will bump into each other (not literally we hope!) down there.

What type of campervans do you have?

We now have 5 Swampers, 9 Retros and 3 ‘Luxe’ campervans. All of them are ’21 plates and are VW T6.1 campers, so have all the latest technology and features you’d expect to find on them, giving guests modern comforts as well as a smooth drive. We also have three motorhomes which include 2 Rimors and a Elddis Autoquest 196, as well as a Jeep Wrangler fitted with TentBox.

What attracted you to listing your campervans on Just Kampers Hire?

It’s been a tough year for everyone and hopefully now there’s a bit of light starting to appear at the end of the tunnel. It’s important for us all to have something to look forward to and it’s clear that staycations are going to be popular again this year, so we want to help as many people as possible get away and make amazing memories!

How do you plan on welcoming your guests?

Our friendly team will help you plan the perfect trip beforehand and then send you a link to our app, containing video walk throughs on how to best use your vehicle. Not only does this make handovers more COVID safe, but it also means you can get on the road quicker!

You won’t just be sharing your campervans with the renters, but you’ll also be passing along your own experience and knowledge. Do you have any top tips for a renter’s first campervan holiday?

Our customers can check out our planning pages and blogs which feature helpful articles whether it’s their first or twenty-first campervan trip. We want our customers to know what to expect so there are no nasty surprises along the way.

From your past experience, can you recommend any road trips, campsites or places of interest that your customers would love to visit?

We work with some fantastic campsites all over the country and in addition to well known (and well worth doing) roadtrips like the North Coast 500, we have plenty of other routes around the UK we have designed, and our expert trip planners are always out and about creating and testing more. We’re hopeful of releasing a few to show off God’s own county within the coming months, so keep an eye out for that!
